Hi Dick,

1. With the prior version, when I opened a mail merge main document,
the document simply opened. Amazing, right? With the "improved"
2003, when I open any mail merge document, I get a flash screen every
time, and have to click "yes" before the document will open. Major
irritation!

See this KB article

"Opening This Will Run the Following SQL Command" Message When You Open a
Word Document - 825765
http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=825765

Once the document is open, with the
"old" version, I could click on the Data Form icon and, if I needed
to look at the source document, i.e. the data base, I simply clicked on
the Show Source button and the data base opened. As you've probably
guessed, NOT ANY MORE! Now, nothing happens. If I want to see the
data base, I have to go to File Open to do so if I want to see the data
in the simple table form I'm used to.

In the Word 2002/2003 section of my website's mailmerge FAQ you'll find a
list of the older features, and how you can pull them out to use them
again. I believe you'll find the one for accessing the data form in
there...

Cindy: Thanks for the response. The registry edit you suggested was
great, and did the job for the first problem. However, I've been
unable to find the features you referred to above on the website.
Maybe I'm just overlooking it. I found no section titled "Word
2002/2003" and could find no entry about accessing the data source in
the mailmerge section.

Any help? Thanks, again.

Cindy:

I just realized that I clicked the wrong link. I've just gone to your
homepage and am all set. Thanks, again, for your help. I feel like a
babe in the woods sometimes with this stuff. Thanks for your patience.

Dick
