Slow Envelope Printing
I am having the following issue when trying to print #10 Com envelopes using
mail merge in Word 2007 with SP1 running under Windows XP Professional with SP2: The mailing list is 761 records. I am printing to a Ricoh Aficio SP C411DN using tray 2 which contains the #10 com envelopes. The printer is networked attached to a Windows 2003 server on a gigabit LAN. Using the mail merge wizard, I setup the mail merge and send the envelope print job to the Ricoh printer. The 1st 15 envelopes are printed very quickly (1 sec each). Then the print job pauses for about 10 seconds and the remaining envelopes continue to print at exactly 7 second intervals. Thinking that the issue may be related to the network. I uninstalled the Ricoh printer and reinstalled it using the USB connector on the printer. The results are the same. 1st 15 envelopes are fast, a pause then 7 seconds each. I then tried printing the same mail merge job on a similar PC with XP Professional with SP2, Word 2002 with SP3, attached to an networked HP LaserJet 4250 with envelope feeder. The results were similar but not the same. Each envelope took exactly 7 seconds to print. I've tried changing print drivers on both printers (both newer and older) I've tried changing the spool settings to spool the entire job first before printing but the results are always the same. Can anyone please help determine why it takes Word 2002 and 2007 so long to print each envelope. Is there a setting or option that I'm over looking? It seems to be a issue that's common between Word 2002 and Word 2007. Thanks for your help. Mark |

Slow Envelope Printing
Does the performance improve if you execute the merge to a new document and
then print that? -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "Mark C." wrote in message ...
