Default Stop Word 2003 from closing

I'm running Office v2003 with Outlook using Word as the reader. When I
close an email that uses Word, it also shuts Word down unless there's
another Word document open. I want Word to stay open, even if there
isn't a document loaded. How do I do that?

Thanks!

Eugene

[Have you tried just closing that document instead of Word. Usually
when you open a document in Word there is a little black X button below
the Close button for the program which the screen tip says Close Window,
this is used to close the current document and not the whole program.
Hope this helps.
