Default Delay in Opening Documents

I have been having a 30 second to sometimes a 2 minute delay when opening
documents. The file size is rather small, I am running Office 2003 and I
have disabled the Norton - Office Plug in. Any idea what could be causing
this?

Have you changed the server or location of your template folders recently?
Are you on a network?

Yes I am working off a network, however the location of my templates have not
recently changed.

Are you connected to the network when you are experiencing the problem?

Even if the location hasn't changed, if your network configuration has
changed that may have changed the address. What you describe sounds like
documents looking for the attached template. If this is the case, they will
open faster when you are not connected to the network. You can fix this but
it is a pain. You open the document and then attach the normal.dot template
to the document and save it. (Make sure the box to update styles is _not_
checked!)

The strange thing about this is it only happens for a few people with a few
documents (not all of their documents have this problem). It even happens
when there is no network connection.
