Quite often, I need to cite few referances for a sentance.

eg. .......this is widely investigated.1,2,3,4,5

How to condense these referances (1,2,3,4,5) to 1-5 in the document.

If these are footnote entries, then the usual approach is to format the
numbers 2, 3, and 4 as "hidden" (text property), insert the en-dash
manually.

If we are talking about cross-references, I would simply insert only the
ones to "1" and "5" to begin with.

Insert all the endnote references, without commas or other intervening
punctuation. Insert an en dash after the 1 or before the 5. Select 234 and
press Ctrl+Shift+H to format them as Hidden text.
