page format
word started opening with the cursor blinking in the very top left handed
corner - instead of the usual format, which is indented. How do I restore the original formatting? |

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | check the "White space
between pages" box | OK. Gary wrote: word started opening with the cursor blinking in the very top left handed corner - instead of the usual format, which is indented. How do I restore the original formatting? |

What version of Word do you have? Another possibility is that you have
accidentally changed from Print Layout view to Normal view. Gary wrote: i don't have that option on that menu! "Gary" wrote: word started opening with the cursor blinking in the very top left handed corner - instead of the usual format, which is indented. How do I restore the original formatting? |

Office 2000 Premium - layout is print and changing views doesn't help - i may
have fixed the problem by setting new defaults in page setup - do you know what the standard defaults should be?? "garfield-n-odie" wrote: What version of Word do you have? If the problem is fixed, don't worry about what the defaults should be.
You can restore most of Word's default settings by closing Word, renaming the normal.dot global template file to normal.old (or some other filename of your choice), and restarting Word. Word will automatically create a new normal.dot containing the default settings. I had the same problem, and the suggestion about White Space Between Pages
seems to have fixed it, however I find it interesting that before applying that fix I discovered that the proper top margin was displayed if I told Word to show headers & footers then closed the headers & footers. I had tried to delete my Normal.dot, that did not help! We will see if checking the white space box fixes it after restarting Word. Rick Lederman Soaring Software Solutions, Inc. Replacing normal.dot will not help with this issue as the setting is stored
in the registry. It is a toggle setting that is all too easily activated. It came as a shock when I activated it accidentally by clicking the space at the top of the page.
