that persons can complete it online without distorting the document and email

You convert any document into a template by saving it as a template (.dot
file). I think what you mean is that you want to convert it to a protected

especially the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFl...nesInForms.htm. Generally people
use tables with fixed-size cells to hold fields and keep the form from
changing.
