Cross Referencing and Heading 1
Hi,
Is anyone having problems with Cross Referencing and Heading 1? I am finding (even starting a document from scratch) that the Heading 1 reference does not work properly. It will update the reference itself but does not update the heading number. |

Cross Referencing and Heading 1
What version of Word are you using?
I have not noticed any particular problem with cross-referencing Heading 1. How do you refresh the cross-reference, sometime the numbering may not update the first time of refresh, for example the cross-reference is before the heading in the document and it's numbering has changed. It is common practise, when refreshing autonumbering and cross-references, to run it twice to capture such occurences. ie Ctrl+A (to select whole document), F9, replace enite table if you have such things. Repeat. Does this refresh and update your numbering? Hope this helps DeanH "Julie-Ellen" wrote: Hi, Is anyone having problems with Cross Referencing and Heading 1? Cross Referencing and Heading 1
Thanks Dean Using Word 2003. We have used Ctrl A plus f9 for whole doc then
right click update field on the particular item - no change. "DeanH" wrote: What version of Word are you using? I have not noticed any particular problem with cross-referencing Heading 1. Cross Referencing and Heading 1
This field may have inadvertently been locked.
Use Ctrl+shft+F11, either on the whole document or just this specific field and see if it refreshes. Ctrl+F11 locks fields codes. If this does not work, have you tired entering an new cross-reference alongside the old reference, does this work OK? Hope this helps DeanH "Julie-Ellen" wrote: Thanks Dean Using Word 2003.
