What would be the problem with word taking so long to save files. We have 4
people that connect to server via remote connection. They all complain. At
times you can be typing along and it will take a few seconds for word to
catch up with what you have already typed.

You might have a virus or a hijacker -- have you updated your anti-virus
definitions, etc. and run your anti-virus programs/hijacker programs lately?
Like maybe every day would be a good idea, with the nonsense that's out there
nowadays...
