Default Autoshape sent to back in table

I sent an autoshape to the back behind one row of the table, blue filled
rectangle to make the row stand out, and now can't click on it to delete it.
I also formatted the autoshape to be behind text so moving the table out of
the way to reach it doesn't work - the shape moves iwth the table. How do I
click on the autoshape to delete it?

Gail,
Have you tried making the table a little smaller using the little square
that appears next to the bottom right cell. Can you click on the blue
rectangle now, your cursor should change to an arrowhead with four heads.
By the way why not use the tables and borders toolbar, there is a
paintbucket there which makes it easy to apply shading to make your row
stand out, seems to me to be much less of a hassle.

Display the Drawing toolbar and click on the Select Objects tool (big white
arrow at the left end). This will allow you to select drawing objects
without touching text.

Thank you for your help! This sounds terribly dumb, but I never knew what
the large white arrow on the drawing toolbar was for. Thank you! Gail
