Default getting rid of lines in background of document

how to get rid of lines meant for signatures.
This was a doc I copied and modified.
These lines were already there.

Default getting rid of lines in background of document

Most likely, it's border formatting. If this is Word 2003 or earlier, click
where the lines occur, choose Format - Borders and Shading - Borders tab,
and None.
