Default Applying a different stylesheet

How do I disable the normal stylesheet and apply a different style sheet?
and will I be able to permanently attach that style sheet to the document?

--thx, Joseph

Don't try to "attach" the template. Instead, create a new document based on
that template from the beginning. How you get to the File New dialog to
select a different template varies depending on Word version, which you
haven't stated.

In the New Document task pane, select "On my computer..." under Templates.
This will open the Templates dialog (which is just File New under a
different name).
