Default REF code for Section 1.01

A user has a document that has "Section 1.01", "Section 1.02", "Section
1.03" created with REF codes. They wanted to update the TOC but one section
would not update. Upon looking further that section did not have a REF code
attached. I tried it by clicking Insert Field, Links and References, and
then got lost. Please help me find my way.

Thank you.

An easier way to create a REF field is to use Insert | Cross-reference
(Insert | Reference | Cross-reference in Word 2002 and 2003).
