Footers
I have a friend with Word 2003, and when he typs a word document, it
automatically inserts the file path name. How did he get this and how can he remove it? He wouldn't care, except for now, it is showing the wrong path name! And I am incurably nosy and want to know... |

Whatever template he's using (probably Normal.dot) has a {Filename \p} field in the footer (to see the code of the field, press Alt+F9; press it again to return to the result). To remove it from a specific document, double-click the file name to open the footer pane, select the field, and press Delete. To remove it from the template, you have to open the template itself (through File Open) and remove the field from it. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Footers
Presumably there is a { FILENAME \p } field in the footer. View | Header and
Footer, Switch to Footer, select the field, and delete it. If he's getting this in every new document, see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm -- Suzanne S.
