Default Changing default tabs for bulleted lists in Word 2007

With older versions of Word, it was possible to change the default settings
for spacing / tabs. I have been unable to figure out how to do this with
Word 2007 - each time I start a new list I have to reset the spacing. There
is a button labeled "default," but as far as I can tell, it doesn't do
anything when I click it.

Any suggestions?

Create a bulleted paragraph style with the desired settings.
