How do I search for and select all the email addresses in a word document?
I want to copy just the email addresses into a new word document.

The search tool will work fine for this. Use the find routine (CTRL+F) to
find

[a-zA-Z0-9\-_.]{1,}\@[a-zA-Z0-9\-_.]{1,}

with the wildcards box and the highlight all found entries box checked.
The e-mail addresses will be highlighted.
Close the find dialog. Then copy to the clipboard.
Open a new document and paste.

A couple of additions:

1. Even if you have other hyperlinks in the document, the email addresses
may have the format { HYPERLINK "Mailto: " }. If so,
you can isolate those by searching for

^19 HYPERLINK "Mailto:

Note that you must have field codes displayed for this to work.

2. A quick way to convert text-only email addresses to hyperlinks is to run
AutoFormat over the document with "Internet and network paths with
hyperlinks" checked. This method does convert the addresses to the {
HYPERLINK "Mailto: format.

I googled for an answer about this, it was actually some thread with an Italian guy that I initially found and even though the help also mention this exact method with {1,} I got an error. After a lot of trying I remembered helping my boss with a similar problem in Excel. Everything on the internet said to use , but it wouldn't work. When exchanging , with ; instead it worked just fine!

So if you're in a country where you use cm, m, kg, and comma instead of decimal point you may have to use ; instead of , it seems Word is nice enough to interpret the comma there as decimal point...

Kind of sucks though that the help, in Swedish, doesn't mention this at all. Running Windows and all software in English instead would solve so many problems a lot quicker.
