page number formatting for dissertation
Hello..
I have a few questions regarding page number formatting. My boss has written his rough draft of his dissertation and would like assistance with formatting. What we would like to do is 1) insert 5 blank pages to the rough draft he has already composed (this is to compensate for the TOC, preface, etc. which he will compose later on) and number these pages with roman numerals 2)Using standard numbers, we would like to number Chapter pages-bottom center / following pages within a particular chapter - upper right hand corner I am a novice when it comes to formatting something like this. Can someone kindly offer their assistance? |

Thank you for the link. It did help tremendously but for some reason, it
continues to change the format between the front matter and the main document. Previously, I inserted page breaks to account for the front matter that will be generated at a later time. If I understand correctly, I am to remove the page breaks, which leaves the title page (section 1) and the main document (section 2) remaining. If this is correct, how can I make allowance for the future front matter and upon doing that, how can I control the page editing between the front matter and the main document. I do not mean to be redundant, but I have followed the steps to the link you sent and I just can't get the formats to remain "Suzanne S. Number sequence and formatting is per section. In each section, you can
choose to start numbering at a specific point or continue it from the previous section, and you can choose to use 1, 2, 3, or i, ii, iii numbering. It is not necessary to unlink headers and footers to restart numbering, but it is necessary to unlink them to change the number format. -- Suzanne S.
