Default page numbers in footer

hi, i am facing problem with page numbers in footer. when i am customizing
the page numbers they are not coming in order. if i change one page number ,
some other page number is also being changes as the other. how can i change
the page numbers?? please help me.

What changes are you trying to accomplish? If you change the
appearance of numbers (for example, from Arabic to Roman numeral) it
will affect all pages in a section; this is to be expected. To have
different format in different parts of the document, you need to
insert a section break. See

Default page numbers in footer

If you want different numbering on different pages then you will have to
insert a section break before you change the numbering. Once you have your
section break then click View | Headers and Footers and on the footer toolbar
click Same as Previous so that you can now start new numbering in that area.

Actually, it's not necessary to unlink headers (footers) unless you
want to alter the *contents* of a header (footer). If only numbering
options (such as numbering style or restart options) should change, it
is sufficient to set the Page Number Format, which is in effect for a
single section.
