Default Embedding tt Font in a Word 2000 Template

We have a customised truetype font used as a company logo.

If a standard word document (.doc) is sent to someone they can see the
font/logo ok. If they open a template (.dot) they get a replacement font

Word 2000 on Windows XP, Have only ticked Embedd True Type Fonts in both,
the font embedding properties show as 'Editable Embedding Allowed' why does
it show the font show on a normal word document but not the template?

Regards
