Default lost information in Word showing current/total page numbers

I am using MS Office 2003 version of Word. I used to have a page count at
the bottom of my screen showing the current page number and also the total
number of pages in the document. Now this has disappeared and I don't know
how to get it back. Can you help?

I'll just answer my own post. Thanks to Jay Freedman.

In the Tools Options View dialog, check "Status bar".
