Default how do i delete a line created by typing "----------"

I have been working on a large document for a few days.

I put some dashes "----------" like that to mark a place where i needed to
insert some info.

I have now come back, inserted the data and can find no way of deleting the
line that word put in there. I can move it up and down sure enough! But i
cannot delete it or select it or anything. There is nothing in the help that
i could find...

Any ideas poeple

PS no i cant add lines afterwards and delete it that way, the formatting is
such that if i add lines aftwords it mashes the next page :S
