Default Table of Figures

Hello,

I have a question regarding the table of figures.

I inserted a figure caption that looks like the following:

Figure 1: The concerns framework (Smith, 2001).

When I create the table of figures, it looks like the following:

Figure 1: The concerns framework (Smith, 2001)........................
22

I want to exclude the (Smith, 2001) from the table of figures, so it
would look like:

Figure 1: The concerns
framework......................................... ...22

Is there a way I can do this (without simply deleting the (Smith,2001)
in the table of figures)?

Thanks in advance.

Default Table of Figures

You could place the insertion point immediately before "(Smith, 2001)"
and then press Enter. Format the paragraph mark as hidden (press
Ctrl+Shift+H); this ensures that both paragraphs will print on the same
line, but the latter paragraph won't be included in the table of
figures. Note that, depending on how the TOF is built, you may also have
to apply a different paragraph style to the "Smith" paragraph.

Default Table of Figures

The task will be easier if you display nonprinting marks. To do this,
you can press Ctrl+Shift+8. Paragraph marks display as "¶" symbols. For
more, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/NonPrintChars.htm.
