Default Formatting a single field

In trying to create labels, I am inserting individual fields from my
database. I want to make the first line much larger than the rest of the
label. I tried selecting the field, and changing the size. However, whenever
I do the merge, it converts back to the oringinal formatting. Any way around
this?

Assuming that you mean a bigger font, in the mail merge main document, press
Alt+F9 to toggle on the display of the field codes and add a \* charformat
switch inside the closing }, removing the \* mergeformat switch if there is
one and then apply the desired font formatting to the M of MERGEFIELD.
Then Alt+F9 again to toggle off the display of the field codes and execute
your merge.

Hope this helps.
