can't get word to spell check. Have switched on in spelling optio.
Open a document where this problem occurs. Press Ctrl+A to select all
of the text. Click on Tools | Language | Set Language | choose your language | uncheck the "Do not check spelling or grammar" and "Detect language automatically" boxes | Default | OK. Press F7 to rerun spellcheck. Waysideruk wrote: Word 2003. Can't get spell check to work. Have tried switching on in tools options spelling/grammar. Still doesn't work. |

I had the same question: why did my spell check stop working? I did a search
through this newsgroup, found this answer (patting my self on the back) and implemented it and it works. Thank you. But out of curiosity: What happens that makes a document that opened with the spell checker on and was working, underlining mis-spelled words, all of sudden change to not working? Sometimes it can result from pasting in text from another source (especially
the Web) and then pressing Enter at the end of the pasted paragraph to get a new one, which perpetuates the "(no proofing)" format. -- Suzanne S.
