Managing linked-in graphics
I have a document that needs to serve two different audiences. The main
difference between the two documents is the screen shots. Currently I have the screen shots for customer A in folder A, and the screen shots for customer B in folder B. The screen shot files are linked in from a folder called FM_Screens. My plan is to have three graphics folders: FM_Screens, CustA_FM_Screens, and CustB_FM_Screens. When I want to print the document for Customer A, I will put the screens from CustA_FM_Screens into FM_Screens. When I want to print the document for Customer B, I will put the screens from CustB_FM_Screens into FM_Screens. After creating the Word file, I will PDF the result. Will this work? Will switching screens from one folder to another cause my links in the Word document to break? Thanks! |

Managing linked-in graphics
Hi ?B?TGlzYUg=?=,
It should be workable. But you'll want to make sure the graphics are inserted in line with the text (no text flow formatting). Then you can work directly with the IncludePicture field code that controls the link. (Alt+F9 to toggle the field codes; when you can see the field codes you can use Find/Replace to change the paths). Alternately, you can save the path in a document Property (File/Properties/Customize) and insert this into the IncludePicture field. (Only single, not double backslashes when you go this route)). Insert the DocProperty field in place of the path. Ctrl+A, F9 to force updates after you change the path in the document property. I have a document that needs to serve two different audiences.
