Default Modify Header or Footer Space in Word 07

Well, you can check the Footer paragraph to see if it has Paragraph Space
Before applied to it. That's the main reason adding the Footer would have
caused the reflow. If it does, reset it to 0. That's one of the other
possibilities alluded to in the article Suzanne linked to. The only other
fix I can think of would be to reduce the Footer margin.

The weird thing is that part of my text went to a second page when I added
the footer. It was appearing on one page before.

That is why I would like to modify the space devoted to the footer.

Unless a Header or Footer is several lines tall or the Header/Footer margin
encroaches on the document margins it has no influence on the flow of the
body text. The body text flow is determined by the document margin settings.

If you want to constrain the text to one page without changing the margin
settings first make sure you don't have an empty paragraph ( ¶ ) at the end
of the document. If the content still flows to a second page once there is
no empty ¶ below the last line of text you can do either of the following:

1- Use a smaller font size,

2- Reduce the line spacing, or

3- If you're using empty paragraphs ( ¶ ) to separate paragraphs of text,
remove the empty ¶ and use Before/After Paragraph spacing instead.

Depending on the content of the page there may be other alternatives, but
those most likely are the simplest to implement. FWIW, my preference would
be #3 €¹ using the enter key to create spacing is a throwback to the
typewriter... in a Word document it is generally considered improper.

I was wondering if it is possible to modify the space a header or footer
