Mail merge: alternative Save As methods
Hi there,
A have a rather question regarding mail merge and the subsequent saving of the mail merged document. I have a number of complex documents with complex fomatting that are best handled by the mail merge function, with the source data on an Excel spreadheet. Although the documents look great and consistent, I only seem to be save all the documents in the one file (lets call it merged-papers.doc). Ideally, I would like to be able to save the documents individually, but retain the data and the formatting. The way I'm handling this at the moment is to open the merged-papers.doc, strip out the irrelevant bits and then save the paper as marketing.doc, then open the merged-papers.doc again, strip out the relevant bits and then save as project_management.doc and then open merged-papers.doc again and... You get the picture. Is there a more efficient way of doing this? It would make my workflow a whole heap easier if I could find a way of automating the combined contents of the merged-papers.doc and somehow save them as individual papers, with perhaps the file name being extracted from the title of each document. Anyone have any ideas? Happy to consider alternatives. |
