Default drag and drop inserts

Currently, when I drag and drop a Word document into another Word document,
the entire document just gets inserted.

How can I change this, such that I simply get a small icon of the dropped
doc; i.e. I want an embedded doc?

Well, I don't see your version listed, but you can try right-clicking a doc
and hitting Copy, then come back to your Word doc and hit Edit--Paste
special, choose Word object and check the "Display as Icon" checkbox.

Hope it helps!

Or ..

After pasting, right click on the inserted document, choose Document Object
Convert and check Display as Icon in the dialog.
