In the "File" menu, "Print" is not available
I received a document created by someone else. In the "File" menu, some of
the usual options are missing. The one I really need is "Print." I want to print to a different printer than my default. (I know I can just change the default but I do not want to do that.) If I open a blank document in the same Word session the menu is OK. I cannot contact the person who created the document. |

The functionality of Ctrl+P has been disabled also.

In the "File" menu, "Print" is not available
That being the case, you are evidently not meant to be able to print the
document. You probably can't Save As, either, I'll bet, and if you try to remove the FilePrint macro that is hijacking the Print dialog, you'll probably find the VBA module is protected. Can you use FilePrintDefault (the Print button)? If so, then you'll have to change the active printer before printing, then change it back afterward. -- Suzanne S. That being the case, you are evidently not meant to be able to print the document. You probably can't Save As, either, I'll bet, and if you try to remove the FilePrint macro that is hijacking the Print dialog, you'll probably find the VBA module is protected. You don't say what version of Word this is. If it's Word 2003 or earlier,
Tools | Macro | Macros will give you a list. If there's one called FilePrint (a macro, not just in the list of Word commands), then that's the one you want to attack. Or, on the off chance that the Ctrl+P shortcut has just been unassigned, you could first look at Tools | Customize | Keyboard. Find File | Print and see if Ctrl+P is still assigned. -- Suzanne S. running by setting the security to Medium then refuse to allow them at the inevitable prompt when you open the document. By default CTRL+P will be assigned to FilePrint That would open the print dialog Are you sure that when you are checking the keyboard shortcuts that you have the document selected in the keyboard shortcut dialog and not normal.dot? Settings saved in the document will take priority over those in the normal template. It was removed in exactly the same way, by using Tools Customize with the
focus on the document and not the normal template - and can similarly be re-added to the document.
