Default how can you format a table so text is on same line in each column

whilst typing minutes of a meeting, I use a table with 3 columns.
When for instance I type an action point, then want to tab across to the
next column to type in the owner name, it isn't normally lined up
horizontally. same again when tabbing to the 3rd column.
Any ideas how to line the text horizontally in 3 seperate columns?

Many thanks
Jo

Start a new row for each action item.

And be sure each cell has the same vertical position setting (top,
middle, bottom) -- you get to that by Table Propertiies Cell; in
2007, there's an array of 9 boxes under the Table Layout tab where you
can set its horizontal and vertical alignment at once. Select all the
cells you want to have the same settings, and then set the alignments
using either of these locations.
