In Word, how do you resize the fraction 1/2?
Sometimes, when I type 1/2, Word resizes it automatically. At other times it
doesn't. How can I get Word to do this so that it blends in to a sentence properly? |

The AutoCorrection is performed only if the fraction is typed freestanding.
So it won't happen if you type, say, 11/2 (for 1½), which makes it relatively useless (if you type 1 1/2, it will work, but then you've got 1 ½, which is not what you want). I've assigned keyboard shortcuts to the common fractions and use them instead. -- Suzanne S. ALT+0188 is the shortcut key for ¼.
ALT+0189 is the shortcut key for ½. ALT+0190 is the shortcut key for ¾. [if using Arial font] No other fraction is available. However you can use SuperScript or Subscript for your own fractions. You can also type fractions like 1½ or 1¾ through shortcut keys. You can use Character Map in System Tools to see the Shortcut Keys or Alternate Keys. No other fraction is available. However you can use SuperScript or Subscript for your own fractions. The Unicode range 2153 - 215E gives the fractions for thirds, fifths, sixths, and eighths (all available in Arial). In addition, 215F is 'Fraction numerator 1' which can be combined with small digits. |
