Default OPEN TOOLS SEARCH (Office 2007) MISSING !?

Hi, all,
This is my first visit here and my question is (hopefully) very simple.
Where did "Microsoft" programmers hide the search option (which was very
useful in searching for particular strings etc) upon opening an "Office"
file in previous versions.
Thanks in advance
Michael

Default OPEN TOOLS SEARCH (Office 2007) MISSING !?

It's not 100% clear what you're asking. In Word 2007, search in an
already-open file can be started (as it can in previous versions of Word),
by pressing Ctrl+F. It's also in the Home ribbon tab, in the Editing section
(right end of the ribbon).

Or... are you perhaps talking about finding "strings" in unopened files? If
so, file find was removed from Word 2007 itself (if you run the filefind
command, Word 2007 displays the Save As dialog). If you have Vista, you can
search for strings in unopened files from any file dialog, simply by typing
the search text into the Search box. In Windows XP, use Windows Explorer's
search capabilities.

Herb,
I was certain that my question is clear by looking at its tiltle/header.
It was all about searchig through CLOSED documents.
Your answer was clear and understood.
Thank you,

Default OPEN TOOLS SEARCH (Office 2007) MISSING !?

I thought that new versions were supposed to ADD features and capabilities
not REMOVE them. I am definitely disappointed in Word 2007 -- a new look
with the removal of some of the most popular features. Bummer.
