Default Text appears to be in a textbox but can't be selected.

This Word document has numbers on the page that I can't select. They look
like they're in textboxes (they sort of float above the other text) but I
can't select them. I don't think this is a template. I need to change these
numbers! Please help.

Highlight the text that is numbered and click on the numbering icon on your
toolbar. That should remove the numbers.

Carol,

Thanks for the suggestion, but these numbers are not part of a numbering
scheme. It's more like a form, with a space for a number, and instead of
typing the number in on the line someone created a textbox for the number,
but now the textbox is somehow unchangeable. I can't even select the numbers.
On the first page of the form there are textboxes with numbers in them that I
can change, but starting on page 2 they are static.

Hopefully that is more clear.

They could be page number frames or some other kind of frame or text box
anchored to the header. See
