Iam doing a list of numbered paragraphs that contain some unnumbered
paragraphs. Whenever I start a new numbered paragraph it always has the
number 1 instead of the next number in the sequence. How can I fix this?

There is a "start at" box in which you can select the proper number with
which to start. Format-Bullets and Numbering; click the "Customize" button.
