I think 'attempt to deter' might be a better description given that the
linked process requires macros which you cannot force the user to run. There is no document that you allow someone to see that cannot be edited. You can only make the job more tedious and thereby discourage the user - but having seen travellers' cheques recreated on a Mac that even the original issuers found it difficult to identify as forgeries, some users are not easily discouraged if the rewards are high enough. PC technology has moved on since then. As a practical solution I would advocate creating a PDF of the document and ensure that the watermark, if a text watermark, is written small and repeated all over the background, which makes OCR rather more difficult. To take this a step further you could first 'print' the document to a graphics driver like SnagIt and then print the Graphic from SnagIt to the PDF driver. This will prevent users from Saving the PDF as an editable Word document. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Jay Freedman wrote: paw wrote: how do youu lock a watermark--so it can not be taken off? Hi PAW,
As to lock watermark and prevent it from being removed, there are 2 solutions as follows: 1: You can, of course, choose to protect the entire document, then the watermarks are safely enough since no one can edit the file. 2: This is a workaround to secure watermarks. Apart from inserting watermarks in usual ways with the built-in command, you can insert a "Picture Content Control" in the Header. But before this, you have to save your watrmarks as pictures first. Then insert picture into the control and adjust the size and position and the text wrapping style as well. Set the picture, i.e "watermark", in "Behind text" wrapping style. Next ensure the "Picture Content Control" cannot be deleted or edited. For more detailed information, you can refer to this article: https://www.datanumen.com/blogs/2-wa...word-document/ Hope that helps! DaisyAnn Last edited by DaisyAnn : April 17th 17 at 04:23 AM |
