Business logo pointers
I have Word 2003 and wish to set up a couple of Word page templates with
business logos at the top. Each the same but different sizes of logos.. What considerations apply in my creating of the logos in a dedicated logo creater program, or a general purpose graphics program, regarding, raster or vector, dimension in pixels, and anything else? Assume that 1 is to print 700mm width and the other is to print 250mm width. My graphics program is Paint Shop Pro v8. Any help or pointers to online help would be appreciated. |

JPG is best, IMHO. Size for printing, not for the web. Try for 50KB or less
in size. If you can't get your logo that small, then perhaps consider a less detailed version of your logo for documents. And just in case: http://www.officearticles.com/word/c...osoft_word.htm ******************* ~Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com "KiwiBrian" wrote in message ... Hi KiwiBrian
Here are some idle comments on matters related to the issue, which may or may not answer your specific questions: 1. Set up PSP to use RGB colours, not CMYK. Word doesn't "do" CMYK. 2. If you have to replicate a colour from a logo elsewhere in the document (eg in a block of colour, border, text, whatever), then check early that you can replicate that colour in Word. 3. Commercial printers often use 300dpi, so that's a reasonable upper limit to aim for. So for 700mm wide you need 300 * 700 / 10 / 2.54 pixels wide. 4. Save out the image as a jpg, gif and png. Try out all the options that Paint Shop Pro gives you in terms of picture quality of JPGs, dithering of GIFs etc. Then choose the best one based on size and looks. When you finally choose the right combination, write them down somewhere so you can replicate them later! 5. Accept that the colour on your screen does not equal the colour that will come out of any printer. And, you have no idea what printer your recipient will have, or what state it will be in. 6. See the following for how to set up the template: How to set up a letter template http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/Letterhead.htm Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly.
