I haven't decided (yet) whether your question really is stupid or not. I
think that the reason you can't find that "icon" is because there isn't one.
You don't normally delete files from within Word. (You CREATE files in Word.)
You normally delete them within Windows by navigating to them in any of a
variety of ways and hitting the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

You can also delete a file (in most versions of Word) by going to File -
Open, right-clicking on the file you wish to delete, and selecting Delete
from the list that appears.

Not a stupid question, for Word 2003 and 2007 (at least when used with
Windows XP) both have a delete button in the file operations Windows.
