Default How can I stop previous lines from indenting?

I am attempting to create a lesson plan for my class. Here's my scenario: I
type the time the activity will start, then press tab, type the name of the
activity, then press tab, and then type in the description of the activity.
The description is long and spills over into the next line. I want to align
the start of the second line with where the description started on line 1,
but when I put the cursor at the start of line two and press tab the first
line tabs, too. Can I stop this? Thanks for any help.
