how do I open a word document when the password is forgotten?
I created an important document a few years ago and put a password on it for
security reasons. I need to access the document and I have forgotten the password. |

Hello=
No sarcasm intended, but Password Protection would be pretty much worthless if you could, wouldn't it? A knowledgeable techie _may_ be able to remove the protection, but the risk of rendering the file unreadable is very high. Your best bet is to intensely search your own memory banks and try to remember your password combined with "trial & error". You can also try something like: http://lastbit.com/word But keep in mind that by supporting this type of tool it makes the same tool available to others who may use it to get into your protected files, as well. Good Luck |:) "Randy" wrote: I created an important document a few years ago and put a password on it for security reasons. I need to access the document and I have forgotten the password. |
