AutoText always has to be deliberately triggered by you. From this page:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AutoText.htm "You can also insert an AutoText entry by typing its name in the document, then pressing F3 (on a Macintosh, Command-Option-v). If the AutoComplete feature is activated (by a check box in the AutoText dialog), then you'll see a screen tip above the insertion point when you type enough letters of the entryıs name so that Word can recognize it; pressing Tab or Enter will insert the entry." Did you either press F3 or accept an AutoComplete tip? On 9/5/05 5:07 PM, "*((({" wrote: I've formatted an image and assigned an autotext entry. I can insert the autotext through the AutoText toolbar. I cannot get the entry to work, however. The entry is "sigAH". When I type "sigAH" in a new document, the image-autotext does not appear. What to do? *(((({ -- Daiya Mitchell, MVP Mac/Word Word FAQ: http://www.word.mvps.org/ MacWord Tips: http://www.word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/ What's an MVP? A volunteer!
