Default Find lost data in my docs, previous versions, Word 2002

Slight repeat --I forgot to include the version of Word (2002). I typed some
meeting notes 10 days ago, but when I opened the doc, it was a few letters
and symbols at the top of each page. It shows as being the right size, but I
don't know how to recover the original doc.

Don't save what you see!

Open Word. Then use File Open. In this dialog look at the type of file.
You want it to say Word documents. Set it so it says this, then try opening
your file.

Check under Tools Options Save. If the option to always save a backup is
not checked, check it now. If it is already checked and the earlier ideas
didn't help, write back and I'll tell you how to find the backup.

I tried this, and it did not do the trick. I located a backup file for the
document, but it says the same thing. I did not imagine the minutes I took,
but am stymied. I checked, and I do have the box labeled "always make a
backup" checked.
