Default How do I place words vertically on a page instead of horizontally

I don't wnat to use the Word Art feature, but I need to change the direction
of a sentence or two to vertical instead of horizontal. How do I do this?

Insert a text box or a table cell (remove the borders if desired) and
change the direction of the text inside it.
