Left align last line in justified paragraph
sI cannot get the last line in a justified paragraph to align to the left. I
have seen a number of posts that say to use CNTRL + J to justify and CNTRL + SHIFT + J to distribute, but that does NOT fix the problem. The former keeps the last line justified (separated by words) and the latter does also (each letter is separated). I just want the words in the last line to align to the left. Pushing ENTER on my numeric keypad does work, but there has got to be an easier way to ensure I don't have to keep doing that. |

Left align last line in justified paragraph
It sounds like your paragraph is ended with a manual line break (Shift +
Enter). If you click on the Show/hide button, it will show what is at the end of the line as a kind of arrow rather than a standard paragraph mark (or hard carriage return). If you have a document full of these, you can Find/replace (What what: ^l, Replace with ^p). "Brendan Koop" wrote: sI cannot get the last line in a justified paragraph to align to the left. Left align last line in justified paragraph
Interesting, I didn't understand that once I hit enter it would fix it going
forward. I was in my first paragraph at the time I was typing. It seems like an unnecessary glich and should be talked about in the Help files. Thanks for your help! -Brendan "Anne Troy" wrote: You need to hit Enter at the end of that text. Likely, you only have a line break. Turn on your show/hide button: http://www.officearticles.com/word/s...osoft_word.htm You'll like see an arrow that points down then left. That's a line break, which will NOT take on paragraph formatting. It'll instead try to stretch the line across the page. ************ Hope it helps! Left align last line in justified paragraph
The likelihood is that this text was pasted from the Web, which uses only
line breaks. This is not something you would be likely to see in a document created in Word. -- Suzanne S.
