You can use CTRL + minus sign on numeric keypad.

Note that Ctrl+Num- will insert an en dash. This is better than a hyphen for
indicating subtraction, but if you want to be strictly correct, the minus sign is glyph 2212. The difference is that the minus sign is nonbreaking (the en dash is not). While this won't matter in equations, it could be very important in negative numbers near the end of a line. -- Suzanne S.
