Default MAPI Failu Operation is not supported

When trying to email a word document from within WORD, I get the above error
message.

What could the problem be?

Did this just start or have you made any recent changes to your system?

Actually it started because i was getting the following error: "mapi32.dll is
an invalid extended MAPI library. Mail is not installed on your system."

It was suggested that I replace the mapi32.dll file in the c:\program
files\microsoft\office 12 directory with one that is known to be working
correctly. Which I did, however, i am now getting this error. Additionally,
every time I start Outlook, i get the following error: "either there is no
default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging
request. Please run microsoft office outlook and set it as the default mail
client." Clicking ok allows you to proceed with using outlook normally.
Outlook is the default mail client set both within outlook and IE.

Am at a total lost and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling office 2007
with no further success. Frustrated at the moment.

You may wish to post your question in the Outlook newsgroup and make sure
you state that you are using Office 2007. That part is critical.
