Default how to avoid deleting words

i dont know how to explain my question but is that how can i do to prevent
typing new letters on a copied paragraphed from deleting the letters in the
paragraph. The problem is that when i copy, and paste a paragraph, when i
want to edit some words, whenever i type a letter it erases the next letter
on the paragraph, instead of just adding space for new words. I want to know
if there is a way to do this,

thanks very much.
