Default batch remove template data from old word documents

I am familiar with the issue surrounding legacy template data being stored in
word docs. Is there a way to remove this on, say, thousands of existing word
files? We switched servers and the paths changed a bit, so now any document
created on the old system takes a significant amount of time to look for the
old template path. It's a real problem on large scales.

Registry edits?

Scripts?

Thanks,

-owen
