Default How do I speed up the way Word 2003 responds to my keystrokes?

It seems like I will be typing along and realize that my cursor is stuck a
couple words back, like it's taking a little break!! I have heard there is
something you can set to make Word work better/faster, but cannot remember
what it was, or where to even look. If anyone has any tips or tricks that I
could use to help speed things up a bit, I would appreciate it greatly.

I do run a word expander, Shorthand, with my employer's software. This
software loaded right into Word. I have played with my Shorthand settings
and think I have them in a good spot, now just need to "tweak" Word. Thanks.

It's not a case of making Word respond faster, but of removing whatever is
slowing it down. As a test, disable Shorthand completely.

Try getting rid of Shorthand and using AutoCorrect.
