Default Update prompt at open and close

Hi ?B?a2F5YWtlcg==?=,

Word 2003. No macros, just the fields. They are inserted into a document, vs.
a template. I open the original document , answer the prompts, and do a SAVE
AS to a new document. In this way I preserve the original prompt responses,
which serve as a tickler for how prompt responses should be formatted. The
new document is what I want to stop asking for updates when I close it and
when I subsequently re-open it.

You have two basic choices: you can turn the fields into plain text, or you can
lock the fields so that they can't update until you unlock them.

Fields-Text: Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+F9
Lock fields: Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F11
Unlock fields: Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+F11
