Default can word 2000 be used on a pc with xp?

To expand... the naming of Office as Office 2000, Office XP, etc. is largely
independent of Windows being named Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc. Hence,
I've used Word 97, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 all in Windows XP.
